Tasseled Hooded Cowl

Step 1:

With B, cast on 102 sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on the left hand needle
with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
With A, beg with Rnd 1, work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to B and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to A and work in K1, p1 Rib for 2 rnds.
Change to B and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to A and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Begin Chart Pattern
Beg with Rnd 1, work 6-st rep of Chart around until 29 rnds have been completed.
With B, beg with Rnd 1, work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to A and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to B and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to A and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to B and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Change to A and work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 rnd.
Bind off.

Step 2:

FINISHING
Fold cast-on edge in half and sew 8 in. (20.5 cm) closed for Hood.
Weave in ends.

Step 3:

Tassel
Wrap B around 8 in. (20.5 cm) cardboard 66 times. Cut a piece of A, 20 in. (51 cm) long and thread
doubled into large-eyed blunt needle. Insert needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull
tightly and knot securely near strands. Holding strands of A together and using crochet hook, make a chain
with rem ends of yarn until all yarn is finished. Fasten off. Secure end to tip of sewn Hood.
Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a piece of yarn 8 in. (20.5 cm) long and wrap tightly
around loops 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) below top knot to form Tassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle
and weave ends to center of Tassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly.
